Public Hearing Notices

Public Hearings are part of formal government meetings and are scheduled as needed. Public Hearings are opportunities for a governing body to receive testimony from the public at large on local issues or proposed government actions. Notices are posted here and published in The Winchester Star — the area’s newspaper of record — at least 10 days prior to the Public Hearing.

 

Public Hearing: Special Use Permit for Solar Power Plant

The Clarke County Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing in the Berryville-Clarke County Government Center main meeting room, 101 Chalmers Ct., Berryville, Va., on Friday, Oct. 6, 2023, at 9 a.m. or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard to consider action on the following item:

SUP-22-01/SP-22-02, Horus Virginia I LLC (applicant) - Bellringer Farm, LLC (owner) request approval of a special use permit and site development plan to construct a 50MW solar power plant on two lots per Section 5.2C of the Zoning Ordinance.  The subject properties are identified by tax map numbers 13-A-13 and 13-A-56.  They are located on the west side of Westwood Road (Rt. 636) with access via proposed entrances on Bellringer Lane and Triple J Road (Rt. 632), consist of approximately 400 acres, are zoned Agricultural-Open Space-Conservation (AOC), and are within the Russell Election District.

Any person desiring to speak on the above matter should appear at the appointed time and place. Written copies of statements are requested but not required. Clarke County does not discriminate on the basis of handicapped status in admission to its programs and activities. Accommodations will be made for handicapped persons upon prior request.
