The Clarke County Board of Supervisors will conduct two public hearings on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at 6:30 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matters may be heard, in the Berryville-Clarke County Government Center second-floor Main meeting room, 101 Chalmers Ct., Berryville, Va., to receive public comments on the following matters:
PH 2023-06: (SUP-22-02/SP-22-03) Carter Hall Estate LLC. Request for approval of a special use permit and site development plan to operate a country inn per Section 5.2C (Business Uses – Country Inn) of the Zoning Ordinance. The proposed country inn, with 12 rooms in total, would operate within certain existing buildings on the property as identified on the site development plan. Proposed improvements include upgrades to the existing entrance off Bishop Meade Road, upgrades to the on-site septic disposal system, and other minor improvements. The subject property is approximately 86.4 acres, zoned Agricultural-Open Space-Conservation (AOC), identified as Tax Map #30-A-15, and is located on Carter Hall Lane (private road) in the Millwood Election District. The Planning Commission issued a recommendation of approval on May 5, 2023, with 17 conditions, including, but not limited to, the restriction of events held by the Country Inn, and limitations on the existing nonprofit organization that operates from the same location.
PH 2023-07: (CC2023-01) Text Amendments to the Code of Clarke County, Chapter 180, Water and Wastewater. The amendments include a number of minor changes to different code sections but also new language on the testing and enforcement of standards related to oils, fats, and grease, and the creation of a new sewer exclusive service area at Double Tollgate.
