Clarke Anti-Litter Initiatives

The Clarke County Litter Committee aims to raise public awareness to discourage littering and promote recycling. Its public meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month in the second-floor meeting space of the Berryville-Clarke County Government Center located at 101 Chalmers Ct. in Berryville.

The Litter Committee frequently hosts clean-up events for which it needs volunteers. Contact the Clarke County Litter Committee at litterfree@clarkecounty.gov. Ask to receive notifications of upcoming litter clean-up events.

The Litter Committee also has supplies (bags, grabbers, vests, etc.) to lend to anyone who wants to pick up trash in the community. Go to the Clarke County Planning Department on the second floor of the Berryville-Clarke County Government Center weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Each year, the Litter Committee names a citizen or group to receive its “Environmental Advocate of the Year” award. Send nomination suggestions to litterfree@clarkecounty.gov.
