Individuals who are eligible to register may:
- Register to vote at the Virginia Department of Elections.
- Download a VA Voter Registration Application.
- Go to the General Registrar’s Office at 101 Chalmers Ct., Berryville VA 22611, located on the second floor the Berryville-Clarke County Government Center.
- Register at state or local government offices when applying or re-certifying for Aid to Dependent Children, Food Stamps, WIC, Medicaid, or Rehabilitation Services.
- Register at state government offices that provide state-funded programs or services to persons with disabilities.
- Register at armed forces recruitment offices.
- Register at public libraries.
- Register at Department of Motor Vehicles offices.
To ensure a successful registration:
- Answer all questions,
- complete all information blocks,
- sign and date the registration application, and
- mail or deliver the completed application to the General Registrar’s Office at 101 Chalmers Ct., Berryville VA 22611, located on the second floor the Berryville-Clarke County Government Center.
Failure to complete forms properly may result in delays or applications denied.
Individuals must provide Social Security numbers when applying to register in Virginia. State and local voting officials use Social Security numbers as unique identifiers to insure that no person is registering in more than one place. Records containing Social Security numbers are only open to inspection by the public after removal of the Social Security number in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act. Social Security numbers appear on reports produced only for official use by voter registration.
