Public Hearings are part of formal government meetings and are scheduled as needed. Public Hearings are opportunities for a governing body to receive testimony from the public at large on local issues or proposed government actions. Notices are posted here and published in The Winchester Star — the area’s newspaper of record — at least 10 days prior to the Public Hearing.

 

Public Hearing: Request for Variance

The Clarke County Board of Septic and Well Appeals will conduct a public hearing on Friday, July 7, 2023, at 2 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, in the Berryville-Clarke County Government Center second-floor Main meeting room, 101 Chalmers Ct., Berryville, Va., to receive public comments on the following matters:

BSA-23-01: Stephen Shendow (owner) requests a variance of 41.5 feet to construct an attached porch closer than the minimum 50 feet from an existing well as required by Code of Clarke County Chapter 184 (Wells). The property is located at 130 Lewisville Rd., Tax Map #9-2-2, Russell Election District, zoned Agricultural Open-Space Conservation (AOC). 

Any person desiring to speak on the above matters should appear at the appointed time and place. Written copies of statements are requested but not required. Clarke County does not discriminate on the basis of handicapped status in admission to its programs and activities. Accommodations will be made for handicapped persons upon prior request.
