Public Hearing Notices

Public Hearings are part of formal government meetings and are scheduled as needed. Public Hearings are opportunities for a governing body to receive testimony from the public at large on local issues or proposed government actions. Notices are posted here and published in The Winchester Star — the area’s newspaper of record — at least 10 days prior to the Public Hearing.

 

Public Hearing: TA-22-06, Structures or Portions of Structures Permitted in Required Setback Areas

The Clarke County Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing in the Berryville-Clarke County Government Center second-floor main meeting room, 101 Chalmers Ct., Berryville, Va., at 9.m. Friday, Nov. 4, 2022, to consider the following matter:

TA-22-06 Structures or Portions of Structures Permitted in Required Setback Areas: Proposed text amendment to amend Code of Clarke County Chapter 200, Zoning Ordinance (Article I) Section 7.1.2C (Uses and Structures Permitted in Required Setback Areas). The purpose is to specify the types of “architectural features” and “mechanical equipment” that may be located in a setback area, and to remove “swimming pools (above or in ground)” from the list of building elements that may be located within a setback area by up to 50%.

Any person desiring to speak on the above matter should appear at the Public Hearing on Nov. 4. Written copies of statements are requested but not required. Clarke County does not discriminate on the basis of handicapped status in admission to its programs and activities. Accommodations will be made for handicapped persons upon prior request.
