The Clarke County Board of Supervisors will conduct a public hearing in the Berryville-Clarke County Government Center second-floor main meeting room, 101 Chalmers Ct., Berryville, Va., at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2022, to consider the following matter:
PH 2022-17: CC-2022-07 The Clarke County Board of Supervisors shall consider amending Clarke County Code Chapter 57 Special Events in its entirety. The proposed ordinance revisions make it clear special events must follow the county noise ordinance, increases the minimum lot size for medium events to 25 acres and for large events to 50 acres, transfers the small event approval authority from the County Administrator to the Board of Supervisors, limits the number of days a special event can occur on a parcel to five days in a calendar year, and notes camping must comply with the Zoning Ordinance. The permit approval process changes to require an agency review meeting to be held on-site before an application is made, requires the county to post signage on the property to inform the public an application has been received, requires the county to notify adjoining property owners, and clarifies the public comment process.
