The Clarke County Planning Commission will hold a Public Hearing at 9 a.m. Friday, July 1, 2022, or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, in the second-floor main meeting room of the Berryville-Clarke County Government Center, 101 Chalmers Ct., Berryville, Va., to consider the following matters:
TA-22-03, Historic Overlay District Demolition Criteria. Proposed text amendment to amend Sections 4.2.4 (Historic Overlay District) and 6.2.5 (Certificate of Appropriateness) of the Zoning Ordinance (Code of Clarke County Chapter 200, Article I). The purpose is to add review criteria specific to demolition projects for the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) to use when reviewing Certificate of Appropriateness applications. The new criteria is proposed under subsection 6.2.5.B.4. It includes a list of 8 criteria and a description of what is considered a demolition. The proposed new criteria includes, but is not limited to, a potential requirement for a structural engineer’s report and/or cost analysis to be submitted by the applicant.
