Public Hearing Notices

Public Hearings are part of formal government meetings and are scheduled as needed. Public Hearings are opportunities for a governing body to receive testimony from the public at large on local issues or proposed government actions. Notices are posted here and published in The Winchester Star — the area’s newspaper of record — at least 10 days prior to the Public Hearing.

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE (PH 2020-01)

CLARKE COUNTY PROPOSED BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR JULY 1, 2020 - JUNE 30, 2021
The Clarke County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at 6:30 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, in the Berryville-Clarke County Government Center (second-floor Main meeting room) 101 Chalmers Ct., Berryville, Va., to consider the following matter:

This budget has been prepared on the basis of the estimates and requests submitted to the Board of Supervisors by the several officers and department heads of this County including the Clarke County Public Schools. Any citizen of the County shall have the right to attend said hearing and comment on the budget. 

Written copies of statements made at public hearings are requested but not required. Information relative to the complete budget is available for public inspection in the Office of the Clarke County Administrator during regular working hours.

This budget is prepared and published for informative and fiscal planning purposes only. The inclusion in the budget of any item does not constitute an obligation or commitment on the part of the Board of Supervisors of this County to appropriate any funds for that item.

COVID-19 NOTICE:
• Both sessions of the April 21, 2020, Board of Supervisors meeting are open to the public, including two Public Hearings during evening session; however…
• No more than 10 people are allowed in the room at one time, including Supervisors and staff.
• An additional 10 people may watch the meeting on a TV monitor in the second-floor lobby.
• Meeting will also be streamed live on the “Clarke County, Virginia” YouTube channel.
• Citizens may submit comments in advance to County Administrator Chris Boies at cboies@clarkecounty.gov. Comments received before or during the meeting will be read aloud and entered into public record.
• Board of Supervisors will also accept comments via email through April 24. Those comments will also be entered into public record.
